Voice of scales

I. Purpose

The program allows the blind workers to weigh or count the details on the scales with the serial output of the Merav-5000. The information from the weighing terminal is transferred to the program through the COM serial port of the computer and is voiced by voice and sound signals.

Also the program can independently calculate the weight or the number of details, taking into account the tare weight. In this case, the program determines the deviation of the weight from the specified standard. This allows worker to identify the defective detail. The program outputs all the information in a voice. The program is controlled through the keyboard.

The program has three main modes:

II. Working with the program

1. The first launching of the program

This version of the program is portable and does not require installation. The program is started by the start.exe file from the program folder. After the launching, the program informs you by voice that it is in the «On Scales» mode: «Kria mimishkal». When you first start the program, you must to specify the port to which the scales are connected. To do this, click the «Settings» button. In the window that opens, in the «Port» field please select the port to which the scales are connected. Then click the «OK» button. The program will begin to voice data from the scales. The next time you run the program, you do not need to configure the port (unless you change the port \ USB port). The program will immediately begin to voice display of the scales. Connection of the program with the port can be temporarily disabled or turned on by mouse clicking on the field of the connection parameters.

2. Program operation modes:

Switch between modes by pressing F5.

3. Weighing in «On Scales» mode

Set the weighing mode on the scale and make the necessary settings for the balance. If the port to which the scales are connected has already been defined in the program, the program starts working immediately after launching in the «On Scales» mode: «Kria mimishkal».

3.1. Ordinary weighing.

With each change in the balance display, the program says the current weight value of the details on the balance.

3.2. Checking the weight according to the sample (standard).

Put the reference weight on the scale and press F3. The F3 key can be pressed several times for adjustment until the desired stable value is obtained. Then use the arrows «Up» and «Down» to set the permissible deviation of the weight from the reference sample.

Press F4 - the program will remember the selected values and continue.

For example, if the weight of the standard sample is 100 grams, and the allowed deviation is 3, then with the weight of the weighed details from 97 to 103 grams the program will give out an «Exactly» signal.

4. Counting details in the «On Scales» mode

Turn on the «Count» mode on the scales and make all necessary settings to the balance. The program will automatically detect the «Count» mode and say «Sfira».

4.1. Counting details.

With each change in the balance display, the program will say the current value.

4.2. Comparison of the number of details with the sample.

Put the correct amount of details (sample) on the scale and press F3, then F4. The program will remember this amount and will continue to work. When the number of details on the balance coincides with number of details in the sample, the program will output an «Exactly» signal.

5. Weighing in the «Weight» mode

In this mode, the balance must be switched on and in weighing mode. Other settings of the scales do not need. Press the F5 key to select the program mode «Weight». The program will say «Mishkal». If the balance is in the «Count» mode, the program will output an «Error» signal.

5.1. Weighing.

Set the tare on the scales and press the F2 key to reset the tare weight to zero. The program should say «ipus» and «efes». After that, the program is ready for weighing.

5.2. Comparison of weight with sample.

If necessary, reset the tare weight, as in 5.1. And then proceed as in § 3.2.

6. Counting the details in the «Count» mode

In this mode, the balance must be switched on and in weighing mode. Other settings of the scales do not need. Press the F5 key to select the «Count» program mode. The scales will say «Sfira». If the balance is in the «Count» mode, the program will output an «Error» signal.

Set the tare on the scales and press the F2 key to set its weight to zero. The program should say «ipus» and «efes».

Put in the container the right amount of details.

Press the F3 key until the balance scores a number close to the desired number. Variants: 10, 20, 50, 100. Then press the «Up» and «Down» arrows on keyboard to set the exact value. For example, to set the number 44, it is convenient first to use the F3 key to select the number 50, and then press the «Down» arrow 6 times.

Press F4 - the program will remember the specified number of details and the corresponding weight and continue to work.

If the number of details on the balance coincides with the specified, the program will give the signal «Exactly». If, in doing so, the weight of the details differs from the weight of one detail specified by + \ - 0.5, the program will say the deviation value (in parts of the weight of one detail), which may indicate the presence of defective detail.

7. All keys:

Esc - exit the program.

F1 - say the current value.

F2 - reset the weight to zero (Tare).

F3 - select the value of the current parameter.

F4 - save the selected parameters and continue working.

F5 - select the mode.

Arrows: Up - increasing the value of the parameter. Down - decreasing the value of the parameter.
